A little about me...

I am a recent graduate of the Master of Library and Information Science Program at the University of Western Ontario. Presently, I am searching for work in academic libraries. To know more about me, my career goals and my professional qualifications click here.

Library News...

On these pages are links to interesting and relevent articles and other media that could be of interest to academic librarians. For each of these articles I have written a short precis with a discussion as to why I believe this is significant. In some cases the articles that are referred to may be subscription based but for the most part they will be derived from freely available sources as well as where possible open access information resources. Click here to access them

Professional Blog

This blog is something new that I have been planning. It will eventually be hosted onsite but at the moment it will be hosted at wordpress.org which uses the blog software of the same name based on a fully open source software format. The blog will discuss my thoughts on the librarian profession, job searching and a variety of other professional concerns especially those surrounding information literacy education. Click here to be redirected offsite.

Tutorials...

I have been producing several tutorials showing how to use various services of the library. At the moment these are designed for a hypothetical academic library. I do however hope to continue updating these pages with examples from my professional work. Click here to see them.

Subject Guides...

Subject guides act as a starting point for students researching a specific subject. They should be always aimed assisting library patrons to utilize the materials in a specific institutional setting: showing what does not exist in a collection is not very helpful. Subject guides also must take into account the various electronic resources now available. For examples of subject guides I created at Queen's University as well as ones I am presently creating please click here.
