Below is a list of stories about the changing environment of libraries in Canada, the United States and abroad. The focus is strongly on academic libraries although there will be occassional articles on the profession as a whole and on libraries of every hue. They are arranged by reverse chronological order.

Forget about that image of librarians as a mousy bookworms. More and more of today's librarians must be clever interrogators, helping the patron to reframe their question more usefully. Librarians then become high-tech information sleuths, helping patrons plumb the oceans of information available in books and digital records, often starting with a clever Google search but frequently going well beyond.

We're in danger of losing our memories || The Observer

We have to make sure digital doesn't mean ephemeral, says the head of the British Library. With more and more historically and culturally significant information being available only in digital form it becomes more and more imperative that efforts are made to preserve this information for future generations to study and learn from.
